children with 3 full-time teachers. In this age group, we see the children's vocabulary grow extensively, so we try to encourage the use of language as well as to foster independence and social skills. |
In the Cricket Classroom, we offer a wide range of hands-on activities such as finger painting, water and sand play, shaving cream play, and Play-Doh. Hands on activities are critical to a child's development at this age because they provide visual, auditory, and tactile stimulation which are important to a child's world of discovery. Many of the art activities that we do help to develop a child's fine motor skills as well as their hand-eye coordination. We encourage all of our families to send their children to school in play clothes because even though we use smocks and aprons, the toddlers always seem to find a way to get messy. We use non-toxic, washable paint and markers, but as you know, it doesn't always come out in the wash! |
We try to make sure that every parent knows how their child's day went and what kind of activities they did at school. A form is filled out each day to tell you about your child's snacks, lunches, and activities for the day. It also informs you if your child napped and for how long, as well as each time your child's diaper was changed and if it was wet or soiled. We will also note on the form if your child's diapering supplies are running low. If you ever have any questions or comments, please feel free to speak with your child's teacher. We are always interested in your thoughts and ideas! Each child receives a written developmental evaluation every six months and an annual Parent/Teacher conference. |
We encourage all of our families to bring in a favorite stuffed animal or a security blanket from home if you feel your child may be more comfortable with it. We will make sure that it gets into your child's cubby at the end of the day unless you choose to leave it with your child's cot. We welcome one toy or book a day, small enough to fit into your child's cubby. If sharing becomes a problem with your child's toy, we may ask you not to bring it in. Please remember to always label your child's belongings with at least their initials. |
Your child will have a cubby for storage of his or her spare clothes and other items from home. Please be sure to label everything brought in for your child. Your child will need...
