ranging in age from 2 to just over 3 years of age. There are 9 children in this classroom with two full-time teachers and one part-time teacher. |
The children in this room are becoming independent. The children are learning how to communicate their needs with words and to cooperate with other children. At this age, they are discovering their body and it's different functions. They are tremendously curious about their surroundings while having the need to explore and experiment in many different ways. The classroom is set up in well defined areas to meet the children's needs, such as:
|
We try to make sure that every parent know how their child's day went and what kind of activities they did at school. A form is filled out each day to tell you about your child's day. It also informs you if your child napped and for how long, as well as diapering or potty events. We will also try to note if your child's diapering supplies are running low. If you ever have any questions or comments, please feel free to speak with your child's teacher. Also each child receives a written developmental evaluation every six months, and an annual Parent/Teacher conference. We have an open door policy in the Ladybug room, just as in the entire Center. Parents are always welcome to visit. |
The Ladybug teachers are ready and able to help you with your child's toilet training needs when your child shows signs of readiness. Please remember that we should always take our cues from the child when readiness signs occur. Initially toilet training should start at home first, as well as your child's first experience in underwear. Children that are in diapers are often taken to the bathroom at the same time as the children that are in underwear. We find that this encourages interest in the potty training experience. Please be sure to inform your child's teacher when your child is showing signs of readiness, as well as to discuss with the teacher when you plan to bring your child to school in underwear. |
Your child's cubby will need extra:
table, color with markers, and use tempera pants. WE do provide smocks and usually add soap in our non-toxic paints, but this does not always guarantee that stains will come out comlpletely..We can not restrict any child from an activity because of the clothes that they are wearing. Please mark your child's clothes with their name so that there will not be any confusion among the children's clothes. |
The Center provides a rest time for you child. Please pack a sheet for the cot, a blanket and a cuddly object if you wish your child to have one. Please label all bedding. |
